🚗 Beginner Driver Education (BDE) Program – 40 Hours

Serving Downtown Toronto, West End, Bloorcourt & Bloor West Village since 1985 Structured Ministry of Transportation (MTO) aligned driver education program combining online theory and in-car instruction.

⚖️ Regulatory Compliance

All driver education programs are delivered in accordance with applicable Ontario legislation and Ministry of Transportation (MTO) requirements, including:

  • Ontario Regulation 473/07 (BDE Program Standards)
  • Highway Traffic Act (Ontario)
  • MTO Beginner Driver Education Curriculum Requirements
  • Applicable municipal road safety bylaws

All instruction is delivered using dual-control training vehicles and insured in accordance with commercial driver training requirements. Certification issuance (where applicable) is subject to successful completion of all required training components and full compliance with MTO standards.

The online portion is designed to build the knowledge foundation required to become a safe, confident driver in Ontario. 1. Road Rules & Legal Requirements

  • Ontario traffic laws and Highway Traffic Act rules
  • Right-of-way rules at intersections and roundabouts
  • Speed limits, signage, and road markings

2. Defensive Driving Theory

  • How to anticipate hazards before they happen
  • Safe following distances and space management
  • Managing aggressive or unpredictable drivers

3. Risk Awareness & Decision Making

  • Identifying high-risk driving situations
  • Weather, night driving, and visibility risks
  • How to reduce collision risk in urban traffic

4. Vehicle Control Fundamentals

  • Understanding braking, acceleration, and steering principles
  • Basic control theory before in-car training

This section prepares you for real-world driving before you ever enter a vehicle with an instructor.

📚 HomeLink (10 Hours) – Practice Assignments

The HomeLink portion reinforces what you learn online through structured reflection and practical exercises.

  • Real-world observation exercises (traffic, intersections, road behaviour)
  • Hazard identification worksheets
  • Driving scenario analysis (what would you do situations)
  • Preparation for in-car lessons

This section ensures students apply theory to real driving environments before hands-on training.

By the end of the program, you are not just “learning to drive” — you are learning how to make safe, independent driving decisions in real Toronto traffic conditions.

💰 Certification & Administrative Fee

A $50 administrative and certification processing fee applies upon completion of all required program components. This covers processing, verification, and submission of certification-related documentation in accordance with MTO requirements.

📄 Completion & Documentation

Upon successful completion of the program, students receive confirmation of completion. If required, students may obtain their Driver’s Licence History (DLH) directly through ServiceOntario.
